Boy it's a b'day card.

My first complete creation since Renee was born. I bought this stamp from my friend who is a Kaszazz consultant. It is perfect for a little boy's birthday card. The paper is from my stash and all I can tell you is that it is from We R Memory Keepers. Lots of distressing and sponging of the edges. The sentiment is from Stampin Up. The three was cut out from Urban Lily paper - Urban Boy Collection :Brad.

Thanks for taking a look.

It's been a while

It has been a while since my last posting. Simply because when I was pregnant I was way too tired and not in creating mode and since having Renee in June it has been a time of settling in with a new baby and a little toddler getting used to the whole idea of a new addition to the family and household.

The photos above are: Renee at 6 weeks and Dillon and Renee when we first brought her home.

Now that I am used to being a mum to a newborn again and I have had time to create and have my mojo back. Yay!!!

Birdie Always Sweet

I don't often use the bird in this stamp set but thought it would go well with this cards dimensions, as I had decided to create a Gatefold Card again. I love these two colours together. At first I was going to ink the bird in one colour then chose to use the Rock 'n' Roll technique. I think it enhances the card and love the way it turned out.

Supplies: (All Stampin' Up©)
Stamp Sets: Always and baroque Motifs.
Cardstock: Ruby Red, So Saffron and Whisper White.
Inks: Ruby Red and So Saffron.

Pastel Delight

Again on my trying different folds run. For this card I used Cami's Trifold card (Splitcoaststampers.com). A nice way to make a card that is a little different. Next time I will make it longer as well and see how that turns out. I wanted the card to look soft and pretty so I have used all pastel colours together.

Supplies: (All Stampin'Up©)
Stamp set: Live Your Dream (retired)
Cardstock: Whisper White, Certainly Celery, Barely Banana and Pretty in Pink.
Inks: Certainly Celery and Pretty in Pink.

Happy Anniversary

I created this card for my mum and dads Wedding Anniversary. Mum absolutely adores the colour purple, so colour choice was easy. I chose to make it a Gatefold Card. Still on the trying different techniques and folds run. The stamp used was one I purchased from a lady in the US. I have been wanting to use it for ages so it was great to get it out and finally put some ink on it.

Supplies: (All Stampin' Up©)
Stamp Set: Love Is a Great Thing (retired)
Cardstock: Perfect Plum, Pale Plum and Whisper White.
Inks: Perfect Plum and Pale Plum.

Embossing Technique

I have been trying different techniques lately. Just for something different. I tried the Emboss Resist technique on this card. Next time I give it a go I will use a stronger, more defined stamp image to get a sharper effect. It's all about trial and error.

Cards for your man or the men in your life.

I always find it hard to come up with card designs for the males in my life. Whether it be for my brothers, uncles and sometimes even for hubby. However I am happy with the how these turned out and am happy to share them.

Love is in the Air - An Engagement Card

My friends daughter recently become engaged to her beau of many years. We have been holding our breath waiting for this announcement and finally it has happened. I am delighted for this lovely couple and knew it was only a matter of time.

For this card I have used Whisper White and Elegant Eggplant cardstock. The hearts are from the Always stamp set which I masked to create the two together. I coloured them with Elegant Eggplant and Lavender Lace Markers. The sentiment is from Warmest Regards and coloured in Elegant Eggplant. To add some bling and prettiness, I used rhinestone brads (ice circles) and half pearls from the pretties kit. The ribbon is from my own stash.

Yeah, time to create!

Wow, I have finally had time and the energy to sit down and create some cards. This one was made for my cousins birthday.

I really wanted to use the Ginger Blossom paper (summer mini) so that was my original inspiration for this card. I have used Ruby Red and Whisper White cardstock, Ruby Red stamp pad, White taffeta ribbon, scallop edge punch, jumbo eyelet, rhinestone brad, stampindimensionals and flowers from my own stash.

A quick card to make. I wanted the focus to be on the DSP as I love the colours. Thus I haven't added to much onto the card.

All products are Stampin' Up© unless otherwise stated.

Valentines Card

My DH and I don't really celebrate Valentines Day. Some years we have gone out for dinner and other times we have stayed home. I don't like to get caught up in the commercialism of it all. In saying that however, we do give each other a card. So here is this years effort for my DH.

Supplies:
Stamp Set - Boat Loads of Love. I have had this set for a while but it saw the light only last week.
Cardstock - Watercolour Paper, Whisper White, Real Red
Ink - Stazon Black
Watercolour Crayons - Yoyo Yellow, Real Red, Briliant Blue, Glorious Green, Tempting Turquoise, Going Gray and Charcoal.

I used Stampin Dimensionals to raise the small boat and the steam puffs. The heart is stamped onto Real Red Cardstock, cut out and then tucked into the small boat.
Finally I used my Colour Spritzer Tool and used Brilliant Blue and Tempting Turquoise markers to spray the colour.

All materials are Stampin' Up©

Thanks for stopping by,
Mel.

Birthday card for Brother-in-law

A few of my friends got together and ordered a whole lot of Bellas and Fellas recently and they finally arrived, so I got to have a little play. I made this card for my Brother-in-laws birthday. Thought it quite appropriate as he loves to bbq. The colours are probably a bit dark as you lose the detail. Next time I will choose slightly lighter colours or try colouring using my watercolour crayons for as softer effect.

The image is Grillafella from the stamping bella range. I have wanted to get my hands on these stamps for a year now and finally have some. Very exciting. Let's be honest - any stamp set or anything to do with craft and stamping is awesome.

I used Stanpin Up© cardstock and markers in So Saffron, Bravo Burgundy, Night of Navy and Bordering Blue. The fella is stamped onto watercolour card with Stazon.
I stamped the sentiment onto twill tape with Bravo Burgundy ink.

Eastern Blooms Birthday Card

Here's a card I loved making using one of my favourite SU colours - Rose Red.
I made this card for a friend and knew she would love this colour combination.

I have used the Eastern Blooms set from the December mini, a set I love at the moment.
The branch is inked with Old Olive and the flowers were inked in Pumpkin Pie and Rose Red stamped onto Whisper White cardstock and then cut out. I raised them onto the branch with dimensionals.
I stamped some of the images from this set randomly onto the Rose Red card for the background and added an extra piece of cardstock which I scalloped.
The ribbon is Whisper White grosgrain and I have added a small round buckle from the Stylised Silver Hodgepodge hardware. The sentiment is from Greetings Galore.
All products used are Stampin Up©.

Till next time,
Melissa

Birthday Card for my brother.

I made this birthday card for my brother. I am enjoying getting back into watercolouring and had a blast with this card. I have used the For Father set from SU (Dec. mini). First use of this set and I love the images. So great for male cards.
I have watercoloured using So Saffron, Rose Red, Chocolate Chip and Creamy Caramel and completed the card using the same cardstock colours.
I have kept the card layout simple so the focus is on the watercoloured image.

Hi everyone, I am finally back to blogland. Been extremely busy with Christmas, New year, Two year old toddler and my pregnancy that I have not had the time to sit down and create anything let alone put it on my blog.

Hope you all had a lovely Christmas and New Year. I can't believe it is already nearing the end of January. Hope all you Aussies had a awesome Australia Day yesterday and enjoyed the holiday.
